Many states in the US have legalized cannabis for medical use, while some have legalized the recreational use of cannabis. Marijuana is measured in ounces and grams. However, most cannabis sellers use code words for the amount of marijuana. Therefore, when you buy marijuana in the market, you should be aware of the cannabis code words.

Dime

When you hear the word dime, the first thing that comes to your mind is the number 10. If a buyer mentions he wants a dime of weed, the seller understands the buyer wants to purchase weed worth $10. The actual amount of marijuana in $10 can vary with the dealer. If you have a good relationship with the cannabis dealer, he might give you a discount, and you may get weed worth $15 or $20.

 Nick

Nick is short for Nickel, specifically used in cannabis dealings. Nick is half of a dime of weed. It means the buyer wants marijuana worth $5. Many dealers will not even offer the option of buying a nick of weed. Though the prices and quality of cannabis vary, 5 dollars could get you a quarter of a gram of cannabis.

If the cannabis offered by the dealer is not good, you may also get half a gram of cannabis for $5. A nick of weed is the smallest amount of weed the pot dealer will sell you. It is enough to pack a few bowls of one-hitter in terms of quantity.

Dub

Like dime, dub also refers to the amount of weed. It is generally $20 worth of marijuana. The quantity of weed you can get in a dub differs. You may get a gram or two, and if you have a good relationship with the pot dealer, he may even offer more than 2 grams of weed for $20.

Though a dub means $20 worth of weed, some dealers offering discounts make it a $15 hub. They will give you the same amount for $15 that you would get for $20. A smaller dub is generally 1.1 or 1.5 grams. So if the dealer is offering a $15 hub, you are more likely to get one gram of cannabis. A dub of weed is enough to load a bubbler or small glass pipe a couple of times.

Key

Unlike dime, dub, or nick, which refer to a specific amount of weed, the word key is used when you want to buy a large amount of cannabis. Key means thousand or kilo. When any buyer mentions the key of weed, he wants to buy thousands of grams of marijuana. One kilo of weed is equivalent to 2.2 pounds.

The word key is not consistent in terms of quantity when buying weed. It is not used for buying small amounts of cannabis. It is used in distribution, and hence an individual is more likely to use words like key of weed.

Summing Up

The words dime, dub, Nickel, and key of weed are slang words generally used in the black market when purchasing cannabis. If you live in a state that allows you to buy cannabis for recreational or medical use, you can use these code words to specify the amount of cannabis you want to purchase, and the pot dealer will understand your requirements.
