This is a quote from Shakespeare’s play “Othello.” It is the final line of the play and has been quoted numerous times because it captures a universal truth about life. The question, “but other than that, how did you enjoy the play?” means more than what it seems to say. “But other than that,” meaning beyond just this moment in time, implies there are many moments ahead and we cannot predict what will happen next. “How did you enjoy the play?” can be interpreted two ways:
1) as an objective statement asking for feedback on your experience with this performance; or
2) as a subjective question about whether you enjoyed yourself overall tonight regardless of where you were sitting or who was on stage.
“But other than that how did you enjoy the play?” is asking for feedback on your experience with life as a whole, not just this moment in time. Long-form content: The question “but other than that, how did you enjoy the play?” means more than what it seems to say.
